Our comfort zone is like a small prison which we can walk out of at any time but choose to stay in it because it feels safe. When we attempt to leave it signs pop up all over the place telling us “you can’t, you don’t have the talent and you’ll fail.”
What’s In the Zone
This zone is filled with thoughts of doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. This is the definition of insanity as Albert Einstein once stated. We know the result will be the same but we convince ourselves that this time it will be different.
How do we get out of this zone and live the life we were meant to live? Change, Visualize and Take Action! Simple but yet impacting steps when we apply them to our lives.
Change the way you are doing things and you are sure to have different results. It could be as simple as reading a new book on a topic you have interest in. Read 30 minutes at night or 15 minutes in the morning. This will help you learn something new and help focus your mind on new possibilities.
Imagine the life you want, make a collage, place pictures in places you that will remind you of your vision. See yourself at the weight you want. Buy a shirt or blouse that will fit once you reach that goal. All the clothes I purchase are a size smaller than I’m currently at. This forces me to stick to my diet and a healthier lifestyle. When I don’t I immediately feel it in the clothes I want to wear.
“A real decision is measured by the fact that you’ve taken a new action. If there’s no action, you haven’t truly decided.” Tony Robbins
The most important of all taking action. Without action, you will just sit in your comfort zone as life sails before your eyes. As regrets accumulate of what could’ve been and now is still just a dream. Just take one small step towards what you want.
If what you want is a new job start researching the companies you would like to work for. Make a list of 10 potential employers you are interested in. Visit their website, look at the companies profile on LinkedIn. See if there are any articles online about them and what they are up to. This research will allow you to determine if they are a good fit for you and if your talents will be a good fit for them.
Leaving Our Comfort Zone
Leaving things that are familiar is difficult, but in order to live up to your full potential, we must try to at least stick our foot in the water. Sometimes the water isn’t as cold as we think and even if it is, we learn to enjoy our new experience.
